Winter Fitness: 5 Great Workouts for Snow Days
Baby, it's cold outside! Get ready to bundle up in cozy sweaters and make the most of winter workouts by unleashing your inner Anna from frozen. If the deep cold keeps you from getting active, don't worry! We've put together some exciting fitness activities for you to look forward to, and not to mention, you can burn some serious calories. Here are 5 winter workouts you can do indoors and outdoors to prepare you for your next frosty adventure. Watch out, here comes a snowball!
1. Play in the Snow
Yep, it snowed. The kiddos are off from school, and you can't make it to work. So now what? Get busy and bundle up the family to play in the snow! According to statistics, you can burn between 200 to 400 calories per hour with this winter fitness activity. Er, depending on how you build your snowmen. But, if snowmen aren't your thing, you can also build a fort, play snowball fights, or make the old-fashioned snow angels. So, do you wanna build a snowman? Well, snow is free. *wink*
2. H.I.I.T Hard, Play Harder
HIIT is also known as the high-intensity interval training that has been so popular in recent years. If you're unfamiliar with the training routine, you basically just need to give it your all in a short amount of time and then follow up with low-intensity recovery periods. We're a big fan of HIIT. Need proof? Check out our Instagram page. HIIT is super efficient, and you can knock out a quick workout in just 10-15 minutes. Don't know where to begin? Get started with our freebeat bike, which offers a variety of on-demand classes of HIIT, cardio, full-body muscle training, and sculpt classes. HITT not only builds overall strength but also increases your endurance. Get ready to ride and find your beat with us.
3. Skate Away Baby
Ice skating is a great winter exercise for family, friends, couples, or just for yourself! Similar to skiing, the amount of calories you burn is determined by how fast and how long you skate. Need more motivation? Grab a cup of yummy hot cocoa, put on your best skating outfit, and go for a stroll. One advantage is that ice skating isn't overly expensive, and if you don't have your own skates, most rinks will rent you skates and charge you only for the skate rental. Oh, don't forget! Snap a few pictures and save the memory of how you had an amazing time but still managed to burn at least 100 calories that day.
4. Grandma's Rocking Chair
This one is for our indoor folks who want to stay in the comfort of their home. There are countless workouts you can do at home, and as we mentioned before, our freebeat bike is an excellent option for bodyweight exercises that you can knock out in your living room. If you're looking for a quick and calm workout, why not try meditation and yoga? What could be nicer than doing a few stretches near a fireplace, listening to the crackling sounds of the fire, and falling asleep on your grandma's rocking chair?
5. Winter Deep Cleaning
Take this time to tidy up your house and organize your pantry. There's no such thing as waiting for spring cleaning. If you'd rather stay indoors and refuse to step a foot outside, we don't blame you. Turn the frown upside down and start sweeping away. Doing simple things like washing dishes, folding laundry, or redecorating your house requires movement. Just remember, as long as you move, you'll burn calories. Take it slowly from day to day and set up a goal to excel in your deep cleaning. When you're done, you're almost ready to welcome spring and a fresh start to the new year!
